CLASS OBSERVATION
1.
English foreign language class identity
In
31st October 2019 with “Analytical Exposition” as the topic, we had an
observation in class XI MIPA 2 at SMAN 5 Purwokerto.

Observation result
a) Method
The method that used in the class is Discovery
Learning.
b) Learning
activities and steps
1)
Students answer
teacher’s question about their day and homework.
2)
Students are given
uncompleted analytical exposition text by using listening activity, they filled
it with ten uncompleted words.
3)
Students are asked
to understand the purpose, structure text, and language feature of analytical
exposition.
4)
Students try to
understand the text by reading before listening activity.
5)
Students do listen
and answer the questions on their work-book.
6)
Students do first
check answer with teacher.
7)
Students are asked
to listen it two more times to ensure them about their answer.
8)
Students do second
check, then exchange the answer sheet with friends behind them.
9)
Students are asked to
come forward to write their friends answer in whiteboard, one by one.
10) Students
analyze the answer that related with the text (car should be banned).
11) Students
listen to the audio once again with the teacher and check the answer by
spelling each word.
12) Students
are given score based on each words and the spelling.
13) Students
are checked by teacher about their correct answer.
14) Students
are asked to do an exercise consist of five question for about 5 minutes (based
on the text) and find out /analyze the language features.
15) Students
are expected to participate answer the question and will be appreciated by
teacher with giving a point.

are asked to come forward to write the argument based on the text.

are given second topic or text and read it with their partners.

Observation review
After getting
permission from Senior High School 5 Purwokerto, the observers did observation
there on 31st October 2019. It was done in XI IPA 2 with Mrs. Cici as an
English teacher. The material was about Analytical Exposition by listening and
reading activity. There were students activities that observed by the observers.
When the
observers came to see the learning process, it felt like the students need to
pay attention more at the first because the activity that they did was
listening. After some repetition, the students got better in that. The teacher
had good ability to make students more active in learning process, like make it
fun with various activity and be friendly with students.
Because of that,
students felt more comfortable. They were also brave to come forward, to write
the answer in whiteboard. For some students, they are afraid to make a mistake
but students in XI IPA 2 could do it even if they hesitated first..
